📜 Special Passport Day is THIS Saturday, March 28, 9am–3pm at the Old Orange County Courthouse. Apply for passports AND get photos taken on-site in one trip. Whatup, efficiency. Appointments recommended but walk-ins are welcome. HEADS UP: both parents need to be there for kids under 16.
🏫 The phone-free school deadline is July 1. Under California's Phone-Free School Act, every school district, charter school, and county office of education must have a policy limiting or banning student smartphone use in place by July 1, 2026. Warn your teenagers now, and tell them you got the intel from the coolest newsletter ever.
📱 Big week for "tech vs. your kid". First, a California jury found Meta (FB) and YouTube legally liable for harming a child through addictive platform design. Second, a new 2026 California law now requires AI chatbots to disclose they're AI when a kid asks. Neither of these fixes the underlying problem, but they're moving us closer to touching grass. In the meantime: parental controls, a "this is a machine, not a friend" conversation, and maybe a scroll through what your kid actually has on their phone 😅

Yes, I understand we just talked about robots, but this robot is for you (an adult) to get you to more IRL stuff with your crew, dare I say, without any additional work?? It’s almost there, but in the meantime I’m looking for a few mom groups who might be interested in testing it out. If you want to find a way to effortlessly plan the weekend + get the group chat together, let me know.
🔧 Tired Mom Hack
Painter's tape scavenger hunt. Write clues on strips of painter's tape and stick them on random things around your house or yard. Each clue leads to the next or if your kid can’t read yet, do arrows. End at a bowl of candy or 1 toy instead of a billion small ones. BYE PLASTIC EGGS THAT WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH AFTER EASTER!!!
